This session will describe strategies to assist job coaches with making a good job match and designing instructional techniques to promote job performance and retention. Creative strategies for customizing the placement process and providing individualized supports during initial training and on- going follow-along will be presented.

Assisting adults with autism who do not have access to formal, paid support systems to utilize community and natural supports to build an independent and self-determined life. This includes learning to navigate generic community supports, developing a goal-oriented person-centered plan, developing a plan for independent living, finding and keeping a job, and developing social support networks.

 

Who should attend:  Case Managers, Families of Transition Age and Young Adults with Autism or Developmental Disabilities, Transition Specialists
